Hancock County Farmers Markets: 2026 Season Guide — hero image

Farmers market season is how you know spring actually arrived. Here’s where and when to buy local in Hancock County for the 2026 season.

Fortville — Thursdays at Landmark Park

Location: Landmark Park, 600 Vitality Dr, Fortville Day / Time: Thursdays, 4:00 PM Season opens: Thursday, April 30, 2026 Runs through: Summer weekly

The Fortville Farmers Market sets up at Landmark Park on the east side of town. A weekly Thursday evening market that doubles as a community gathering — you’ll see the same families there most weeks, and vendors include Central Indiana growers selling fresh produce, baked goods, honey, meats, cheeses, plants, and handmade goods.

Landmark Park itself is an easy venue — parking, space for kids to run around, and a short walk to Main Street restaurants if you want to turn market night into dinner.

New Palestine — Tuesdays at Healthway Park

Location: Healthway Park, New Palestine Day / Time: Tuesdays, 4:00–6:30 PM Season: May through September 2026 Plus four Saturdays: May 10, June 7, August 2, October 4

The Healthway Park Farmers Market is New Palestine’s main market, running Tuesday evenings through the summer. Vendors include Fair Farms, Blue River Natural Foods, and Tony’s Boss Sauce alongside local growers, bakers, and makers.

The Saturday market days are bigger — expect more vendors and more crowd. Worth planning around if you want the full experience.

Greenfield and other Hancock markets

Greenfield and McCordsville host their own seasonal markets — those guides are still being built, and we’ll add the 2026 details to this post as we confirm dates with each organizer.

How to shop a small-town market

If you’re new to farmers markets (or new to Indiana):

  1. Bring cash. Many vendors now take Venmo or card, but small bills still move faster and some vendors don’t have cards on hand.
  2. Bring a tote bag. Vegetables fill one fast.
  3. Come early for produce, late for baked goods. Early gets the best pick of tomatoes and sweet corn; late gets markdown pricing on bread that won’t keep overnight.
  4. Talk to the farmers. They know what’s best that week, what’s coming next week, and which varieties they’d serve their own family. No one at a grocery store has that answer.
  5. Build a habit, not a single visit. A farmers market works best when you go most weeks — your shopping list shifts to match what’s in season, which is how food is supposed to work.

Why local markets matter

The grocery store sells you what a distribution chain sends. A farmers market sells you what someone within 30 miles grew last week. It’s a different food system, and it only survives if people show up.

Both Fortville and New Palestine’s markets are free to attend, kid-friendly, and dog-friendly in most cases. Show up, say hi, buy a pint of strawberries. That’s how small towns keep their markets alive.
